Still Acting After All These Years

No one who saw Paul Guaraglia as the Stage Manager in our school play Our Town will ever forget his performance.

He's still at it.  He has his SAG card.  He appeared regularly on the old "Streets of San Francisco" cop show.  When I was in the Bay Area recently, Woody Allen was shooting a film in San Francisco at the time.  Paul had a part in it, directed by the man himself.  I don't know the name of the picture, but look for Woody's next film.   Before that, he worked in an HBO film with Nicole Kidman and Clive Owen.  (Hemingway & Gelhorn???)

Here's Paul with his wife Irene 2 years ago at our 55th Anniversary Reunion:

September Birthdays

Some of our September birthdays:

Angela Bellante, teacher & inveterate traveller
Carl Thomas
Peggy Sorensen Long - September 10

Peggy celebrated her birthday early in July, so family members could attend.  Some Jeff '55 classmates & spouses in attendance:  Jan Toole & Bill Bacigalupi, Jim & Marian Rector, Darlene Haynes Thorne, Ralph & Donna North, Dolly Castellano & Jack Brush, and Yours Truly.

Darlene Haynes Thorne -- Deltiologist

Deltiologist -- what's that?  You might guess if you know Darlene's email address, which is "postcardgirl."  A deltiologist is a postcard collector.  I thought of Darlene when I read one of the many obits of Phyllis Diller, who died recently.  It seems Phyllis collected postcards, too.

But Darlene has an amazing collection, belongs to several postcard societies, and uses her extensive collection to give frequent talks on historical subjects.  She was recently written up in the Mercury News announcing her talk on Santa Clara County, one of her favorite subjects.  Her cards were used extensively in the publication of the San Francisco Bay Area Post Card Club, Facing Disaster:  A Centennial Postcard Album of the San Francisco Earthquake and Fire April 1906, as well as being credited in The Mineral Springs of Santa Clara County, by Ian Sanders, of Morgan Hill.  Other subject areas include the Centennial of Women's Suffrage in California, and Esperanto, one of her latest interests.
